Paul Olson, 79, of Humboldt passed away Wednesday, January 16, 2013 at Neosho Memorial Regional Medical Center.
Paul was born in Humboldt, KS on September 12,1933 the son of Carl and Mary (Byrum) Olson. He graduated from Humboldt High School in 1951. After graduation he enlisted in the United States Navy where he was a heavy equipment operator for the Seabeeās and received the Good Conduct Medal.
He later married Beverly Miller on January 3, 1959 in Humboldt.
Paul worked for Cities Service Gas Company and Williams Natural Gas Company for 28 years where he was a heavy equipment operator and supervisor.
He was a member of the ELKS Lodge #806 and Boerstler-May Post 170 American Legion.
Paul is survived by his wife, Beverly Olson of the home; two sons, Bruce Beatty and wife Joyce of Ottawa, KS, and Brian Beatty of Humboldt, KS; one daughter, Paula Olson and partner Vance Carter of Humboldt, KS; three grandchildren, Shawn Beatty of Ottawa, KS, Amanda Kueser and husband David of Garnett, KS, and Garrick Ogle and wife Anna of Chanute, KS; six great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, David, Lawrence, and Harold Olson; and one sister, Corrine (Olson) Wesenick.
The family will receive friends on Monday, January 21, 2013 from 6 until 8 p.m. at the Penwell-Gabel Humboldt Chapel.
A private family burial will be held at a later date.
Memorials in his name may be made to The Humboldt Ministerial Alliance and may be left with the funeral home.
